Re: How do you feel about killing insects?
I'll go well out of my way to get them out of my house alive, even cockroaches.

Nice to hear from others that do the same, I don't there are too many like us.

No, thankfully, there are not. Most people are reasonably sane.

Good luck with all your "sanity."

I catch and release them all out of my house and I break for all animals. Insects, animals, spiders etc etc want to live the same as you and I....Just beacuse we can does not mean we should.

Re: How do you feel about killing insects?
I've done my fair share of killing, especially spiders, ants, flies, bees, and moths that get into my home.

However I'm starting to feel really guilty lately everytime I swat one of these creatures.

Is killing insects morally wrong?

Do insects feel pain?

Does the Bible condemn these killings?

Will god judge me in the afterlife?

We catch and release our insects if they get into the house, down here in Florida. Sometimes Mother Natures Creatures find their ways into our houses, so we just catch them and release them back outside where they belong.

I feel this thread is not inclusive of the people who just like to pull the legs off, and how they feel about that.

Please be more considerate of those feelings in future.

Re: How do you feel about killing insects?
VERY few things I would kill. I catch bugs with a small plastic cup (put it over them) and an index card (slide it under the cup with the bug).
In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined:

With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world,
And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor.
Then will I wander godlike and victorious through the ruins of the world
And, giving my words an active force, I will feel equal to the Creator.

Normalize every aberrant behavior, bring common all deviancy and let fly the reins of morality and reason, then welcome in that utopia that liberals embrace called communism, that which most Americans with but a shard of ethic would immediately recognize as evil.

I feel terrible!

I don't think there is anything inherently wrong about killing, but when done compulsively, with no regard, and without any sense of justice, yes it is wrong.

I believe a wise man understands when to stay a strong hand. Whenever I swat at a bug it's compulsive, and thus I feel guilty.

Flies I kill without remorse.

Spiders I tend to leave alone since they eat and trap so many other bugs.

I have a soft spot for moths that find their way in my home. U use a shot glass to trap them when they're on the wall or ceiling, then take the glass outside and give them a nudge to release.

I don't kill without a good reason.. Not knowing better back during the viet nam days I killed a tarantula not knowing any better... and then I went to a bug zoo and held one in my hand...... It was an awesome experience.

Yeah, same thing happened to me quite a few years back, although I still and will always steal the life of flies that decide to enter my domicile. Disgusting creatures that shit all over everything they touch.

My girl fervently hates spiders and tries to force me into a violent reaction when they cross her path. Most times I catch and release, I think she hates me for it, lol.

I can't vouch for what any religion teaches, but if it weighs on your soul then you have an obligation as the caretaker of it to enact change, follow your heart. If there is a God that judges us, I'd say doing so would strike some red from your ledger.

Re: How do you feel about killing insects?
I lived in someones basement for 2 yrs saving money. For the most part it was too cold for any insect. But during summer time they were everywhere but the basement. I lived peacefully with every spider that made its way into the basement for warmth and summer time they earned their keep.

Can't count how many times on all my fingers and toes I woke up to a spider repelling down to my face chuckle But none ever bit me. Wouldn't doubt if I ate a few while sleeping.

Everything has it's place in nature though. If you don't want them in your house then kill them or trap to release outside. If you're chilling outside try to find a way to just repel them. hf

You're about to change the battery in your kitchen clock and a fucking Huntsman spider as big as your hand darts out at around 5 metres per second. What's your verdict, thumbs up or thumbs down?

Love dragonflies because they eat skeeters and are generally good to have around.

Paper wasps I kill immediately.

Red wasps I will tolerate in small numbers. But when they think they can push me around, they get killed.

Mud daubers are just a pain putting their mud nests everywher and plugging anything with a hole. So they pretty much get killed.

Fire ants. Kill on sight. Bifen.

Pussy pillars, die. LIttle stinging monsters.

Tent worms also get killed with extreme prejudice.

Spiders in the yard I leave alone.

It’s open season on Mosquitoes for me.

They provide no benefit to humans and disable and kill millions every year.

One killed a very good friend via West Nile.

I have been at war with carpenter ants for the last 2 weeks. They had colonized in two of my oak trees trunks. I have poisoned them and I got a bunch of them but they fled to other trees in the yard. Yesterday I sprayed around all of the other trees and got a bunch more.

Sooner or later I will get the queen(s) and I will win.

Re: How do you feel about killing insects?
I only kill insects that go out of their wsy to bite me. Ants, biting flies, mosquitoes, ect.

I feel no wrong in this. I feel wrong when I have killed insects just to kill them because they were in my house or something.
