This appears to be an IMAGE rotating, not the moon. Explain further please. Its the only video I could find. Its something you have to see for yourself. Set a timer, watch it rise, see it midday then go see it as it sets. For example, if the shadow is on the left when it rises, it will be on the right when it sets. It isn't supposed to be doing this. Nothing on the net explains it. Everything nasa says, says it shouldnt be doing this. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 80141479 United States 07/20/2022 06:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It isn't acting in the way NASA explains Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4142471 Here is what is happening really... When it rises it appears rotated to the left and YOU are looking East (assuming you are in the Northern hemisphere), then when high in the sky it appears upright and YOU are looking South. Then it sets and appears rotated to the right and YOU are looking West. The Moon didn't turn, YOU did. How do we know that it isn't a real rotation? First, everything else in the sky has the same apparent rotation. Look at constellations and you'll see the same thing. Second, when you see it rising and tilted left, AT THE SAME TIME, there are people who see it high in the sky and upright and AT THE SAME TIME there are people that see it setting and tilted right. At all times the North pole of the Moon still points North. This is called field rotation and is a well known effect. |
