I visited one time before 9/11 maybe the year 2000. I got there Friday afternoon and was ready to leave Saturday afternoon. Too many people.

The condition of the tunnels and so forth are totally catastrophic.

It is an engineering cesspool. Every block is like that miami condo collapse it is just a matter of time. The subway, storm, and sewer tunnels are at 2X their expected lifespan. Spalled concrete and rusty exposed rebar is everywhere. You see photos of the public walking past long-failed concrete beams and columns every day.

And the elected officials sit around whistling past the graveyard at best, completely unaware at worst.

The absurdities there, cannot eventually hold up.
