Re: Today's forecast sets heat index at 110 degrees.
Madison here. Yesterday my $150 Acurite brand backyard weather station showed 94F actual degrees with 69% humidity and a heat index of 118F. That was in the shade at about 1:30 or 30min past solar noon, and the temp was forecasted to rise over the next few hours.

State weather radio this morning confirmed a high temp of 96F at 4pm yesterday. The wind was strong so the heat/humidity did not feel as bad as it could have.

In 2012 alone we had 39 days over 90F, and 4 days that broke 100F. In the last 10yrs combined we have not had a single 100F day, and fewer than 20 days over 90F. 2012 was the beginning of the Solar Maximum of cycle 24. We are currently beginning the Solar Maximum of cycle 25.

It really does, you lose brain power and become extremely fatigued no matter how much water you drink. Once you get home you just want to sleep.

Yeah, I was 5 weeks in Phoenix in 1998. I could not go out during the day. When I drove back to the hotel at 1AM. I found a family going for a bicycle ride at 1AM, safety flags on little kids bikes and all. It was the only time they could get out and exercise. I was horrific, like living in a blow dryer.

Global warming is such BS. You are crisis actors. Let’s burn wood and coal. Even oil and gas burn too clean. Let’s really go for it because 10 more degrees there will be no AZ.

With no humidity, quite a difference.

Always amazes me how people in Arizona think their sun is different than anybody else's.

I remember when August was considered the hottest month. Then it slowly migrated into July being the hottest. Looking at the forecast for the rest of June, has it moved into June being the hottest now? I hope so, otherwise it's going to be a rough, rough summer.

I remember the scorched August heat theory as well. If true, you're right, the bible belt will be dripping.
