For a propane tank, a 100-gallon tank is enough for a gas dryer, gas stove, and BBQ grill to last about 6 months. For a heated pool, a minimum of a 500-gallon tank. Depends on what Obama is using to heat his home. Electric, number 2 fuel oil, etc? 2,500 gallon propane tank seems like overkill. Most likely he has a large generator with an automatic transfer switch. Appears he is prepared for something. Would not want to pay to fill that tank!

Obama is worth 70 million dollars, why wouldn't he want a month backup of power... a few years back in Massachsusetts the power went out for a week and a half, in the middle of winter.

I have 300 gallons of propane for my generator versus his 2500, and my net worth is about 0.5% of what Obama's is.

Just letting his 70 million dollars sit in a savings account for 1 month will pay for the installation of the tank.

Let me know when SpaceX starts building him a launch pad... then I will worry.

As reported, the Obamas asked the board’s permission to install a 2,500-gallon commercial propane tank on their property. “We’ve never had a private propane tank come to us,” select board member Arthur Smadbeck told the MV Times. Board member Michael Donaroma added that a private-residence propane tank is typically a fraction of the quantity being requested.

On an island that is as prone to storms as Martha’s Vineyard, it would not be unusual for a home to have a back-up generator, but no one apparently has a commercial-grade 2,500 gallon tank at a price tag that could range as high as $75,000.

I put in a 2500 gallon propane tank just before the Pandemic.

Cost me $4500 for the tank, regulator and installation.

Propane was around $3 a gallon then, and the first fill was half price.

Runs my generator for 6 weeks.

that's 228,325,000 BTU. or 69,970 KWh.

that's about 70kw for every hour.

now assuming the genset is only 33% effecient that's still 21kw of electric being used every hour.
