40 bucks for a hair cut with tip

That is absolutely crazy OP. Perosnally, I stopped going to get harcuts in 1998 and do my own. I cannot even fathom how much time and money I have saved, not only with haircuts, but hair care products. Nothing like a buzz and simple soap.

My barber has gone up since the first of the year, but it’s only $25 with a tip and he does a great job. And he’s a small bidness and I’m glad to help out a small bidness over some big corporate salon.

I learned how to cut my own hair years ago with many of the do it yourself gizmos available now. I used to stop by the tavern for a drink after work but now the prices have gone way up so I actually have booze at home which is something I never did in the past. Here in Wa state (Western side of the pass), the minimum wage is approaching $15 an hour so everything is expensive now.

The plandemic / academic broke me of the haircut habit. Now I only get one twice a year and I bought my own clippers. Who needs a barber? They're as useful as 401(k) investment advisers these days.

I work at a small salon and our rent went up $200 a month, our utilities went up by half, the price of all our products have almost doubled, if we can get them. We in the same boat as everyone else so we waited until the absolute last minute to go up on our prices but we had to. And it did lose us some customers and we are the cheapest salon in our area. If we aren't making a profit we may as well shut the doors and that will be 4 more people out of work.

I recon a buisness move would be a van like and ice cream van, but a barber van, which you play a tune and slowly drive the streets, when they come to you, just like the icecream van, you stop and quick cut the hair. I think it would start slow, then people would come for a good cheap cut. ten dollars adults, five dollars children, seven dollars pensioners.
