They're now making them so the scanner stops working if you run out of ink.

It's greed on their part, nothing else.

I bought a laser printer 5 years ago, never looked back.

I changed the cartridge once in 5 years.

Just get HP instant ink its like 3-4 dollars a month unlimited ink and after 50 pages monthly a bit more

Wait until you try and use a refilled cartridge - that really sets the printer off!

That whole system is a RIP off. I buy ink cartidges on Amazon and Ebay that are half the price. They are not recognized by the HP system

Ink jet printers are one of the biggest consumer scams. You should know better when the printer costs under $100 yet the ink can cost you thousands every year.

Next time buy a LASER PRINTER with toner. It never goes dry and ALWAYS works when you need it.

printers are almost as bad as pockets... worthless.

HP used to build great products, replaced anything that got broken. But now it's all crap, printers, laptops, desktops, cameras, all junk.

Buffet is insane buying HP he's gonna lose big time.

HP lost me years ago when the digitally dated (by barcode) the ink cartridges. I had new (older stock) sealed, still in an air-tight package and the printer recognized the all 4-cartrige set as OUT of DATE! and printer window stated all cartridges need replacement. At the time it was a $75.00 cost to do so.
So there the printer sets, still with all stickers still intact and almost unused for about 8 years now.

I can't believe I spent over $30,000 on a new car, and now my tank is empty, and filling the gas tank costs $70 Fking dollars!!

It's not necessary to go through all that, just get recycled refilled cartridges on eBay for way less. You could probably buy a whole set for less than what you paid for one at Walmart. I've been doing that for years.

I had a similar issue a few years ago...I was looking at $80 for new carts, or just $55 for a new printer.

Switched to full-color laser printer 6 years ago and have never looked back.

Canon 5600 series for the win!!! 5 separate ink carts @ about $1 each.

Ink printers... been there done that and abandoned it many decades ago. Expensive and inferior performance.

I bought a monochrome Brother printer HL-1440... over two decades ago in year 2000. Supplemented with a HP JetDirect print server to print over the LAN, really old stuff but always worked great.

Have run through approx five 6k-pages toner cartridges over the years, no drum exchanges so far. Prints like new still, perfect results, mechanically like clockwork always and no feed problems ever.

Printer driver support can be a bit tricky lately with latest Mac & Windows OS but there is always the option of printing through Linux CUPS if unsuccessful with finding drivers.

I have found no reason whatsoever to buy a new printer for private use so I will use this for a few more decades I guess...

If you filled your damn tank a week ago and you go out in the morning to leave for work and a little light comes on saying that your almost full tank of gas is expired I think you would be somewhat pissed.

No it's not because the cartridges that come with it only have 1/3rd the ink than the ones you buy.

Laser user only. Will never use those pieces of garbage. They even tried to give them away.

ok.cause I have an HP too and it sucks. I almost never use it, probably never again cause atm. it is out of ink.. or so it says. I was a big HP-Fan once, but I guess I'll buy something else, maybe even used if available.
