They imported almost every single player for the express purpose of playing on the team.
They aren't "Canadians" they are africans, south americans, etc.

Like OP said - Canada imported their team - took players from all other nations, gave them free immediate Canadian citizenship and built an instant team.

That is not true, the only player that is not really Canadian is Eustaquio, and it makes sense he would want to play for Canada since the Canadian National Team nursed him back to health.
