Their memory will live on, it may be sad at first but after some time it will be happy. I believe when animals bond with humans it's because their souls are same frequency. You'll always be close even when they are gone from this plane. Don't be afraid to get sad or even cry. |

You will be thinking about this for a while but try in that time to start opening up for the next pet/child in need that you can help with all that love. Your lost pet/child will be ok with it because they were always here for you anyway. Lock and Load! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight for your lives! The Wolves are upon us! |

It's not supposed to be. But it is still awesome. In a totally new way. And you are helping another sweet doggo. |

Quoting: Putin's Girl Please go to your nearby shelter and adopt an older dog. They will be forever grateful & so will you. Good luck OPie! Not sure I can deal with losing another. Lost a horse in Feb. He was 26 but still was healthy, got impacted. Vet didn’t help… But this is different, he was like a kid. Heart smashing and watching him struggle at times it wears on you. But I think of all the good years, days, hours… I tend to dwell on the pain and not the joy, I have trouble rememberIng the good times but it was awesome. |

You will be thinking about this for a while but try in that time to start opening up for the next pet/child in need that you can help with all that love. Your lost pet/child will be ok with it because they were always here for you anyway. Quick story. I had two dogs previous, brother and sister lab/beagle mix, all white with tan on ears… The boy had lymphoma, spent a fortune but he passed after 9 months, mostly good times. I didn’t want her to be alone as she was always with him and at that time I worked away from home frequently. She was the sweetest dog ever but that’s another story. So i found this happy looking hound in a kill animal control in NC. He was gonna be gassed in a week… I contacted a rescue, A Shelter Friend and they pulled him for me and shipped him north with other dogs. So if Bear hadn’t passed away Hayes might not of lived. So in essence Bear’s passing saved Hayes’s life. And Hayes kept the girl young I felt and she passed at 15. One door opens when another closes some say. |

For sure. I started giving away food and clothes to folks in need from some of the work I do. I feel like for the rest of my life it’s time to give back and try in little ways to help good folks out. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 82559445 United States 03/26/2022 06:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sorry for the long text. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72375829 My dog (Crazy Hazy or Hayes) passed this morning, his heart was failing and it was time. The vet said I was doing the right thing, he wasn’t going to improve and he was laboring breathing even when sleeping. It was sudden considering how he was doing and even yesterday he was fine. However he had a heart murmur, arthritis, liver was an issue, had lost use of his back legs for 5 months. I know that sounds bad but he was strong willed and loved to ride, never didn’t want to go. He got the use of his legs back about 5 months ago and was really enjoying his freedom. He was mostly upbeat and happy except when the arthritis bothered him and he shook it off unlike me… Still for the last 4 years he rode with me almost everywhere, went to work with me and slept by me. I never minded taking care of him even with the meds, supplements and therapy, his smile and affection was worth it all. I owe him a huge debt of gratitude as I’ve lost family members during his time with me the last few years. He never was a burden although he could be a pain sometimes but it really wasn’t his fault. He was love at its best. I just am trying to piece things together, not my first pup lost , been through it…but the first time in 20 yrs without one. The house is empty, my car is empty and I’m tore up. Any consolation or suggestions are appreciated. By the way he was an all white coon hound mix with brown spots on his ears almost 13. He was beautiful. He was gentle and kind as well as crazy and fun. He lifted me up every day and made me a better human. He was everything. I am so sorry OP. I myself lost my girlie Lab this week and it's been horrendous. My heart goes to turn to you bro. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 82606659 Latvia 03/26/2022 07:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You should be glad, his suffering is over. We had a dog, that effectively committed suicide. It literally stopped eating, and had lock jaw, and would not want to eat. It was like it wanted to die, and the poor thing was put down. Proving, that suicide is not only a human thing, it was so weird to see a dog do this, it just locked its jaw, and refused to eat, after who knows what happened to it, in terms of brain damage or something. Some sort of seizure or something. So sad when they go, and just be glad, there suffering is over. There is a reason why dog, is god backwards, and the importance they play in so many humans lifes. I know some people are cat people, and thats fine, its there sort of animal. Just glad dogs exist, with there unconditional love, for there family. |

I understand how you are feeling because I am going through this process with my 16 year old Cat. I feel it is harder when you have such a strong bond over many years. Just know that you did the right thing and in the coming weeks and months Hayes will make his presence felt. You may feel his presence around you or have a very vivid dream about him. In the coming days it might help you to "borrow" a friends dog or even volunteer at an animal shelter if you need the pet time until you feel ready for another dog. There are so many loving animals that need affection and who would appreciate a good home when you feel ready. Thinking of you at this sad time. |
