NATO members cannot overtly help for fear of being HIT by Russian fire, which would be an attack on a NATO member, which would invoke Aricle 5 of the NATO charter which is mutual defense.

Since Poland and the EU has shown they are scared of Russia by not sending the planes, it pretty much assures that Poland will be next after the fall of Ukraine. I was thinking earlier today that the EU would rise the level of China and the USA in terms of capability on the world stage, but I was wrong on that assessment. Putin will feed on this fear like a rabid dog which means NATO will be attacked after Ukraine and Moldova. Poland's fear means that we are now definitely in WW3 no matter how long Russia takes to destroy Ukraine and Moldova is next as it was on the briefing chart by the nutcase in Belarus. The only place for the Netherlands and France, et al to run to is the Atlantic ocean, at least some Ukrainians will get a short break in Western Europe before they too end up in the sea.
