Re: Kiev handing out AKs to people on the streets. Within 2 hours of the start of those rifles being distributed, a family of 5 were all shot dead as they were driving in their SUV. The reports are that the killer mistook them for "Russian invading forces." Sadly, I seriously doubt this will be the only situation like this to result from that reckless and idiotic action. May it be God's will that I am wrong.

Nobody was in charge of the shooter, which is pretty much why it happened. They were just some guy with presumably no training or experience with firearms or combat situations (can't say for sure, because the guys unloading the crates from the trucks and handing out rifles weren't exactly checking ID and doing background checks) who was given a brand new AK for free and told to get out there in the streets and be a hero.

It's a deliberate scheme Ukraine is trying to pull off to cause massive civilian casualties, whether by friendly fire between civilians like this situation, or drawing return fire from Russian military after the new gun owners obey the instructions they were given and start shooting at trained military personnel. The objective being to scream about Russian barbarism and brutality while pointing at the dead bodies they herded out into forced confrontations with the Russians.

It's inhuman and disgusting beyond words, but the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense seems to be setting new lows damn near every hour. They've eliminated minimum age requirements for defense service (read: have legalized child soldiers), have been conscripting refugees as they intercept them at the borders before they can get out of the country (often times pulling them away in front of their families), and have been instructing civilians -- including the elderly -- to go out into the streets with Ukraine flags and banners to confront Russian military units as they arrive in Kiev. And that's not even all of the twisted orders they've been giving in just the past 24 hours. Complete and total monsters, man.
