Yesterday, I was thinking about how, half a lifetime ago, I first read the words "Chevy Chase" when I read Samuel Peyps' Diaries - for its description of the Great Fire of London - and how it was weird that the actor had that name, as it's hundred's of years old and is, in fact, a place name. Wondered what the connection/etymology is.

Anyway, I have just looked it up so now we know.

Come on, he was pretty funny in community.

I never liked him in anything before "Community" but I think he was superlatively funny in that. Made me revisit some of his old movies and was still singularly unimpressed but them. Strange, that.

Chase is way old now, but in his day was fucking hilarious...Caddyshack, Vacation, Fletch, and Fletch lives is non stop hilarity. His faces and timing were unequaled, he was a master physical comedian who could take a fall better than anyone.

Chevy was great in Fletch.

Well his sense of humor and comedic timing are already dead so meh
