A source close to CFL told FreightWaves that CFL had “too much debt and too many unpaid bills” to continue operating, despite exploring all available options to keep its doors open.

“Years of operating losses and struggles for many years sapped our liquidity and we had no other place to go at this point,” Kalem told FreightWaves. “Nobody is going to make money on this closing, nobody.”

Most of the big company's in fright shipping are walking a very thin line with dismal profit margins .
I predict that in six months time them and many of the smaller mom and pop operations will be upside down due to increased operational expenses and decreased rates .
It is a nightmare in the making .

All of the freight that can not be unloaded so it can reach the stores for the Christmas shopping season will become a serious financial burden for retailers because no one will want it after Christmas but most of it has already been paid for .
