Quoting: The_Meridian Why does a priest have to confer on me this "Gift" when I already have this ability? Who gave me that ability? What if I never met a Priest? Would I not know right from wrong? I propose that my spirit and indwelling consciousness and conscience is something I've always had, always will have, and will not be taken away, though I may try to silence it with any means available... The idea that the church sells me my salvation and gives me my spirit is repellant. They are selling Ice to skimos. (Sorry, Inuit or whatever...) Everyone KNOWS right from wrong .. it is instinctual. Holy Spirit comes in upon belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. A 'priest' has no power to confer anything onto you, or to forgive sins. Only God can forgive sins. Knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel -Paul the Apostle of Christ |

Treat other conscious beings with respect. Follow the golden rule treat others as you'd be treated. In the end everyone will be judged by their works. A devout priest that embezzled and fondled kids is not getting into heaven. You can hide things from others but you cant hide it from the creator. He is forgiving there is time to repent and lead an honest life but it will know if its sincere or not. Redemption is open to all that seek it but the path to clear negative karma will not be easy. |

The idea that the church sells me my salvation and gives me my spirit is repellant. They are selling Ice to skimos. (Sorry, Inuit or whatever...) Agree, all the tools we need are in us already. Our state of consciousness determines how much of the toolbox we could access. We are here to be in human form for an amazing adventure to experience growing up from spiritual immaturity and low wisdom to greater maturity and wisdom. And in the process assist with expanding love and light. But to participate, we agree to be temporary unaware of who we truly are. Throw in free will and duality, and our adventure just got extremely challenging. One lifetime is too short to solve the immense puzzle. We will return many times, because when we go back to our true home after our body draws the last breath we will review what we have done here and say "I can do better than that" or "Let me try something different". Therein lies one of the clues as to "Who gave me that ability?". Those who have been here many lifetimes usually will have gained more Earthly knowledge and experiences to better discern what is right and what is wrong. Those who are newbies here have not raised their wisdom and maturity enough, if at all, to make better and more benevolent choices. They are barely surviving and not coping well in this unfamiliar world, let alone pursue greater spirituality. Many of these newbies could be found in prisons. Hence, we should never judge. And neither does God. Those who are anti-violence now had killed before. Those who are anti-corruption now had scammed and deceived before. Those who embrace God now had dismissed God before. It is all part of growing up to greater maturity and wisdom. And while the caring and Loving God does not judge, there are divine systems in place to always nudge us back onto the good path. When we fail to see or heed the divine nudges, the nudges will be stronger the next time around. Then we misunderstood those strong nudges to be punishment from an angry, judgmental, and vengeful God for not pleasing "him". What an adventure filled with huge obstacles while we try to find ourselves. But then, an easy adventure would be boring. |
