It's World Kindness Day.

I don't want to live in a place where people need a kindness day. Everywhere I've ever lived has been kind 365 without being told.

Honestly.. this conjures images of Carebears handing out cotton candy in a war zone.

You have no one who's homeless anywhere around you? No one depressed? Lonely? Hungry?

No one hating on theirself? Drunk? Blown outta their mind on drugs, harmful substances? Cutting?

I see reminders ev'ry moment of ev'ry day that there's a "starvation" of sorts going on. People are "starved" for kindness.

i don't know where you live that there's an abundance of kindness, but that's not the case where most of us live.

Well, I'm Canadian and I've lived in 3 cities and as many towns in Western Canada.
Travelled a lot, too.
Where I'm from even the homeless junked out cutter types (as you say) and whatnot are generally speaking, really kind.
Everyday.
And yep, I've spent time with them.
Vancouver for example.. I think there are twelve places to get a free meal downtown. Not one of them government funded.

I used to live in Taiwan too.
In five years, I never saw a homeless person in Taiwan.
Not one.
Very kind and polite country.

I could tell you who has poor manners I've met, too

My own experiences are different. i've been homeless myself, actually sleeping on concrete on a late October night when i was pregnant. My own family would not help me. It's excruciatingly damaging in a myriad of ways, to be cold, hungry, and "invisible", with no place to lay yer head.

Kindness is powerful.

I've actually developed theories about about the evolutionary history and advantages (and disadvantages) of good manners. Weather, geography.. all of it.

Generally speaking, being kind is an evolutionary social advantage.. (until you hit border control issues, then it starts to break down into naivety)

So don't give up on your day.

I'd just rather spread Canadianism (Japanese/Taiwanese.. etc) to other places long before opening the doors to the world who needs a kindness day.

Don't call us, we'll call you type thing.
I just need to take over the local government, then the world. Maybe all at once.

However I believe everyone should try and be kind every day, not just one day of the year.
