We are seeing a case study in action. Create an out group. Blame them for societal ills. Remind the in-group they are smarter and deserving of more rights than the out group. Make the out group a tangible threat to the in-group. Declare the fate of society is dependent on converting, punishing, or removing the outgroup.

My family had a heated discussion about the vaccine passports we have here in Ontario. I am the only one in my family not vaccinated. I got pretty upset...I was ranting about Trudeau and how he's punishing us for not doing what HE considers the "right thing."

Long story short, my own sister said, "Well, that's fine. You just won't be able to do what you want to do."

No empathy. Nothing. The media has convinced all of them that we are refusing the vaccine "just because," that we are all "antivax" when it has absolutely nothing to do with that, at least for me. My sister knows this but even she had no compassion. It was pretty disheartening.
