Anybody seeing an unusual amount of helicopter activity tonight? I am!

Outer suburb of DC, military helicopter just flew over.

They are getting the elite out before the east coast is destroyed.

One of my favorite videos of all time - dude raving at a town hall about a rogue helicopter pilot on the loose. He goes crazy and it is HILARIOUS!

I've noticed a LOT of small general aviation activity around here in the southeast corner of the USA...never seen it like this before ever.

And each one bigger than New York City!

Might be a terrible traffic accident. Once in a while when that happens my neighborhood is filled with choppers, because the Life flight at Vandy is here. Not Black hawks though, I've only seen something like that once here.

NW UK'er here. Excuse the quality from my potato camera but took this yesterday late afternoon (before this thread appeared).....it was very low over my house, was making the place rattle even more than my Jamaican style sound system.


ADSB/Flight Aware tagged it as being military/RAF but not sure precisely what model it is. Pretty sure it's just a 'trainer' though.


I took the picture as it was so 'out of the ordinary'. I continued to track it on ADSB for a while and it just seemed to me circling around the rural/semi rural areas of my city.

Looks like a Puma (?). If you live within a few miles of an RAF base, like many, this is a daily sight.

I live 50 miles from Ft. Hood, as the crow flies (or in this case, as the helicopter flies) and no increas in helicopter flights here. Actually, traffic seems to be down a bit vs normal.

it was just very unusual to be able to hear it yesterday over my music system. I actually thought it was AirAmbulance trying to land in a field nearby.

Also, I live about <15 'crow fly' miles from Liverpool airport and <25 from Manchester Airport so due to flight traffic we don't get that too much military on exercises around here.

Had a bunch around Mt Weather too (west of dc)

Southwest Ohio here. Around 8:30ish pm there was a helicopter circling my area slowly. I can’t say it was military or not. But it was circling for quite a while. It was covering probably about. 2 to 3 mile radius circle if I had to guess.
