I read the other day that the communist party allowing this to happen to cool their property market.

They may be making excuses like that for not intervening - but there has to be another reason because this has the strong potential to lower the temperature much lower than “cool” and in places far far away from their real estate prices.

This could very well become a black swan event. China has a huge surplus of US Dollars and therefore has used that money to invest heavily in raw resources, metals, foreign markets and in derivatives globally.

Many US and foreign banks have interests in Chinese markets and companies.

If the CCP doesn’t cover these massive failures somehow, well, the effects of these bankruptcies will be felt for a long, long time.

That so-called huge surplus of US Dollars is really from Hong Kong gov's reserves.

Seems to me this is what happens when you don't let the market forces dictate themselves and you are trying to micro manage supply and demand.

I think this is the end result of those 'Ghost Cities' that China has been building.
