You're right. And in the big scheme of things entire corporations and industries are zombie industries alive on cheap credit pumped by the fed and commercial banks.

China bought ridiculous amounts of oil during run up to peak prices of 2015. Lots of contractors worked on wells they were drilling china, not for exploration but for storing all the oil they imported/bough. It's all stored underground. years of supply. and gold stocks more than you can imagine.

That and a distraction to keep their people from turning on them. Not to mention Taiwan is by far the biggest producer of semiconductor chips in the world. When combined with China's existing capacity they will control a large share of global chip production. We should be feverously building our own domestic capacity back. Once the war starts we won't get shit out of the Chicoms.

Current manufacturing automation technology could come close to leveling up China's lower cost of labor. It will cost billions to build the facilities here but we really won't have any other good options at some point. China could take over North and South Korea after Taiwan. We really need to rebuild our domestic chip production capacity for strategic military needs if nothing else.
