Yes, and the NASDAQ is up 16.68% for the year...My calculations are based on the overall 12% which doubles your money every 6.5 years...I have proven it to myself over the 30+ years I have been in the market...

This is true in recent history. But another 1929 type event would take a really long time to recover from. It took 25 years for the market to recover from the 1929 crash. That is much longer than most people saving for retirement could wait.

A lot of things have changed to prevent a '29 scenario from reoccurring...We had a 20% drop last year and I didn't even blink...We ended the year up 45% in the NASDAQ and personally I made 37%...

Another way to look at it is if you have been in the market for 20 years, you should have doubled your money at least three times...So giving back 25%, in the case of the '29 crash or the 20% from last year is tolerable...

In a perfect world you are 100% correct. But these these times are far from perfect and while I'm not an economist, it's not far-fetched to think the DOW at 35,000 is heavily over-priced and that a market correction, with all the shit going on in the world, has to happen sooner than later.

Yes, I know it dropped to 18,000 a year and a half ago and that it rebounded nicely... but also remember we had a friend in the White House at that time, and inflation wasn't 3% per month.

Not gonna lie, I'm worried things are going downhill... and fairly soon. Certainly hope I'm dead wrong!

Couple that with possible death of the petrodollar itself! How many trillions of dollars was the US govt in debt in 1929? This could be the ugliest event in the past 250 years...or longer with poison vaccines in millions of people , itchy trigger fingers all around, possible exposure of massive voter fraud will make people do desperate shit and we are in front of the fan and they have a wheelbarrow full of shit and tilting it over the spinny thing as we all just sit and watch! The ones in complete denial are right in front of the fan smiling enjoying the breeze...

Brief, you're not stupid. You're smart.

So you should be able to realize that the real economy is going to shit, and the "markets" only keep rising because the FED pumps out trillions freshly printed dollars and hand them to Blackrock so they can BUY UP EVERYTHING.

You should also be able to realize that this is not a permanent or sustainable state for an economy.

It's an end run.

We are currently experiencing the final exponential explosion of the ongoing wealth transfer of assets to the elites. As much as they can get their hands on.

What happens after they have successfully stolen almost all assets on the planet by ruining everyone and giving themselves free money to buy everything is anyone's guess.

It seems you're guessing you'll be allowed to cash in on the rise in the "markets". Maybe you will, but I'm guessing you won't. I'm guessing you should be taking out everything just about now, converting all paper assets to something tangible.

We'll see who guesses right soon enough.

Yep, a lot of things have changed, program trading, continuous fed support (I should say endless), fed buying everything not nailed down, endless corporate buybacks in order to juice stock prices and make a company appear profitable; there is no end to it. However, none of this makes a 'market'. The overall return, since the market's inception is, wait for it, 5%. Recessions, depressions, these are actually market clearing events that clear out the deadwood and malinvestment that has taken place and generally take place every 7 years. You kids have no idea what you are in store for. There is a reason that your great grandparents were skeptical of the 'stock market' after the GD - it was a 'risky' endeavor and they saw people lose everything - now, it is a casino and you don't even get free booze.

It is better to be early that late.

Each share you own is your piece of the company you are invested in, by investing in the whole of the economy, there's zero chance they will go to zero...

The stock market is over 500 years old and has never actually crashed...People call the sudden dips a crash, but that's not a true statement...Panic and emotion are unpredictable, but a company that makes money will never go to zip...

What would you consider "Capital Preservation" in a 401K? Bonds, Money Market? Gold?

I don't think anything is really "Safe" other than a Money Market fund - and with inflation, you'll lose money as inflation rises.
