Question - anyone suddenly having car battery issues? "2021 car battery failure phenomenon"
Or any weird car electrical problems?

[link to www.emfs.info (secure)]

Some cars with electronic control systems have been found to be susceptible to interference from power-frequency magnetic fields above about 2,000 µT. Again, such fields are rare at 50 Hz. This tends to be more of a problem at higher frequencies.

There are occasional reports of car batteries draining under overhead lines, but if this happens, it is just coincidence - there is no way for the field levels under an overhead line to affect the chemistry of batteries or the drain on them from other equipment in the vehicle.

Weirdly enough, now that you ask - yes. Hadn't given it much thought until you asked.

New Toyota Sequia. Went to Church Sunday everything was fine. Came out, dead as a door nail. Jump started, drove home, let run for a while. Turned off / back on - dead as a door nail. Hooked up charger, would absolutely not take any charge. Bought new battery.

Monday sitting at my desk my cordless phone, which I'd just been on and was fine - full charge, acted like a call was coming in, then screen went all crazy, did a long non stop solid ring for like 15+ seconds, then just went silent, showed no battery charge and said "Place on charger". Picked up my cell phone and it immediately started going off from missed texts, emails, etc from over the last 20 minutes or so (don't know if there's a correlation but it happened simultaneously so...?)
Cordless phone appears to be charging and holding a charge.

yep, 2 cars, one old battery that should be failing (the interior lights were left on) and it needed to be jumped, the other car has a new battery, less than a year old, and twice now, it's needed to be jumped in the last 3 days..

Bought my 18 year old son a used Honda 2 weeks ago so he could get back and forth to school....he's starting his freshman year in college. Had the car 2 days and the battery went dead. Gave it a jump and everything has been fine since. Records that cane with the car said
the battery was relatively new. Thought maybe he had a bad alternator that was pulling charge but doesn't look like it. Weird.

My electrical parts in car are all fucked.

Cruise control
Blind spot monitor
Power windows
Tire Pressure monitor
Traction control

All of these disabled and not working. But it's a 2009 Toyota so what do you expect.

Same ... I have a feeling something different is happening... like a field of energy of some sort is interfering with batteries ...

Mind you, this could just be a coincidence.

Bought a new car recently and it's about to go back to the dealer for the second time, warning lights keep randomly coming on, they say ABS module must be bad. Which is weird considering it's a brand spanking new car...

My car had trouble cranking after work tonight around 8:15pm. I have noticed that my household rechargeable AAA and AA batteries (little to no use) are fully charged, but drop real fast. My phone and iPad don’t seem to be impacted.

I have had the same battery in my Subaru since I bought it new in 2016. I went to start my car today and it started right up like it does every time. Got to my destination and when I came back to my car and tried to start it, it started right back up again. Car has run flawlessly for over 100k miles. Replaced clutch at 90k miles. Reporting to you from the PNW.

Buy a CTEK charger and have it plugged in whenever your car is back home. We need to keep the battery in tip-top condition for as long as possible.

"Would an EMP Attack Effect Batteries? Most batteries are able to survive an EMP of any magnitude without suffering damage. This is true for all common types of batteries including lead-acid, lithium-ion, alkaline, and nickel metal hydride. Only complex battery modules with built-in charge controllers are likely to be affected."

Yes, my local Ford dealer replaced my battery He made the statement that he had never seen anything like it but he said as soon as I dropped my car off one car after another came in with battery replacement. He actually pointed to all the customers weighting inside and out and said again, he have never seen anything like this...

OK .. the "2021 car battery failure phenomenon" is officially verified.

Are we in a low intensity geomagnetic storm? would that explain it?

Re: Question - anyone suddenly having car battery issues? "2021 car battery failure phenomenon"
It's the shit batteries.

Most all OEM batteries are made and remanufactured in the same place. The recent trend is AGM batteries, to get away from a liquid electrolyte, and I know for a fact due to either penny pinching or shortages they are cutting the lead on the plates with carbon to try to stretch the yield further. Carbon in the lead leads to the faster formation of dendrites which cause internal parasitic drains on the battery.

I have a basement full of 6v deep cycle batteries for my solar outfit and not a single problem...In fact I have not had to replace a single battery this year...I buy used golf cart batteries from golf courses that change batteries each spring, and they last for years...I use only Interstate batteries...
