We live in the woods in a very rural area, and boy howdy are they loud.

Some people might say they sing or purr.

To me they sound like a fan belt that's about to go bad. Very screechy.

I'm waiting for brood x to emerge, curious if they will drown out the noise from these guys.

Here is info about gray tree frogs

I live next to a Florida National Forest. I have quite a few noisy animals.

I've got an owl that likes to perch next to my window at 2am and start hooting, which is no big deal but then he starts that loud almost monkey sounds and then that sucks.
Then as soon as he quiets down my roosters start their shit around 4am and that's when I get up.

On weekends I hear all the mud trucks and dirt bikes going full tilt which isnt such a big deal. I also have a fee neighbors that love to fire off some rounds which is really cool because one has a Barrett .50cal and the other has a Nitro Express .60. Both sound like cannons.

So yeah I have some noisy shit in my area but I'll take these noises over the sounds of sirens, loud stereos, and traffic noises of the city I fled.

I was visited by a travelling tree frog who came in the mail with some plants. Finally caught him last night and put him outside, after screaming when he dropped in front of me from the ceiling in the dark.

I lived in this house in the Philippines that had an overgrown vacant lot next to it. Silent for weeks - until it would rain. Holy fock would the frogs come alive. Hundreds of them, each with their own ear piercing shriek. It would go on for a few nights after each rain... then silence.

I know what a bunch of tree frogs sound like... this was 10x worse.

I guess these particular frogs are mainly found in the eastern U.S... once you get to South Carolina and Georgia they are called Cope's tree frogs. Basically the same thing.

I got word from family in Indiana that the cicadas are emerging

So I guess they'll be busting out here in Ohio soon.

Sweet sweet music. I might complain about the frogs but I love them. Living in the woods in the summer is like having a symphony.

Anyone seeing cicadas yet?

What's cool is you can hear a rhythm in their "song" that stays together even driving down the road at a good speed.
The frogs, no matter how far apart seem to be in the same groove.

Omg, we have a huge built in pond in our back yard. We have all kinds of different frogs. They are soooo loud at night. We I looooove hearing them. I even planted beautiful water lilies in the pond for them.
