Well, as someone who has been through this process I can say they are all still quite busy cleaning things up. Generally when your network has been compromised it requires a complete operating system refresh for all machines on the network and that can be quite time consuming.

I have no idea how many machines they have on their network, when our network was hit it took nearly a month before everything was back to normal. Took a week just to get things limping along enough to do business at all.

Don't even think your security is enough, if a hacker wants your network it's only a matter of time before they find a crack, even if they have to create the crack themselves. People fall for phishing attempts all the time, even if you're disconnected from the internet there's always some dope that will pick up a thumb drive and plug it in.

Colonial issued a brief statement:

"Colonial is currently experiencing network issues impacting customers' ability to enter and update nominations.

Our internal IT department is aware of the situation and working diligently to restore service".

What does that mean? "Nominations"?

Solution is air gap. No bluetooth, wifi, ethernet, nfc, mikes, speakers, all unused ports de-soldered internally, trusted very, very few with access on site only. When the peripheral tech get an order via voice they go to the machines and enter it. Yes that costs a lot for people.
