Quoting: REaliZe They’re, like, super safe from all of this bad stuff. hey genius if the dollar crashes and is worthless guess what happens to all crypto? it's all worthless How do you figure? USD is for America. Crypto is global... Economics much? Yes, and it's globally backed by...? NOTHING, and it still amazes me that the Cult of Crypto fails to understand that one basic concept - economists have repeatedly explained it over the years, when explaining why crypto will ultimately fail. Yes, USD is a fiat currency, to be sure but however thin it is, the USD is at least backed by an agreement by the federal government that the USD has the economic leverage of the States and it's assets behind it. Crypto has nothing but the agreement of a person to buy it at a given price, because they've been convinced of it's value, even though there IS none. There is no physical, tangible return for a crypto, it has no intrinsic value or use. To be 100% honest, as an example, Monopoly money has more real-world value than any crypto, because when the lights go out, your "coins" cease to exist, but you can at least extract value out of your monopoly money by burning them for light and heat, and count your value by joules of energy released. Such a simple fact but so many choose to ignore it. I totally understand someone that HAS the money to spare diversifying into Crypto for a speculative investment, but anyone talking about Crypto as a long term value store or as superior to any physical investment is going to have a very rude awakening, and the idiots selling homes ands taking out massive loans to buy in... well, I feel sorry for them. ad ignorantiam - The assumption of a conclusion or fact based primarily on lack of evidence to the contrary. Usually best described by, “absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.” |
