Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71720722 Agree, why they are stopping it is beyond me. The main girder beneath the roadway is completely failed? I dunno, its almost like they don't want traffic underneath a bridge that might collapse? |

If it was gonna collapse it would have already done so cuz its a old cut. Plus, who is to say this is the Memphis Arkansas bridge. This could be any green bridge. This cut they did doesnt affect barges whatsoever.....only a zombie would beLIEve this BS....just like the pipeline BS.... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78327618 Barge industry is under the jurisdiction of the Coastal Guard and the Corp of Engineers. In this case also under TDOT, TN. The above give orders that’s why barges aren’t moving nor they can turn around. My understanding is that when the Corp assess the problem and how they’ll fix it the traffic UNDER the bridge will resume. The Barge companies can sue so the traffic will be resumed soon. Looks like the top section of the crack was cut very straight line It's a POWER/Control freak issue. They are just flexing their muscle to show them who's boss. The have a crack. What are you talking about?! have you seen a picture of this crack????? |

Barges are backed up 50 miles on the lower side. I'm on a boat pushing barges, headed that way right now. We are approx 70 miles below the bridge. Hopefully that barge back log, will be cleared before we get there. Wickerpossum |

I am ready to work for my share and live in Galt's Gulch! My dad always said that when the "nonproducers start telling the producers what to do that we are in trouble." Glad he's not around to see this mess unfolding...although I sure wish I had him to discuss it with. |

Quoting: Swingline While road traffic is chaotic in the Memphis metro area, a much larger and possibly underreported story is the closure of the lower Mississippi River that is a critical waterway for the transportation of farm goods. Reuters reports as of Thursday, the logjam of barrages swelled to 771. Coast guard officials closed the waterway Wednesday, preventing any vessel from passing underneath the bridge. "At the spot where the river is closed, 26 vessels with 430 barges are waiting to pass north, and 21 vessels with 341 barges are in the queue to go south, said Petty Officer Carlos Galarza," [link to www.zerohedge.com (secure)] LOL I thought the title read "from BIDENs CRACK" Lol I did a double take That thought is truly disgusting! I'm sure he rounded up some of our best steel engineers and got them to drop everything to put together a temporary fix to get traffic moving both above and below the bridge while we wait for the new replacement steel piece to be made. Gropin' Joe Biden is doing that. Right? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2476229 That idiot won't save anything, but good engineers could cobble up a safe fix quickly. We have many good engineers, they just need the authority to get to work. |
