Why did the USA board a ship in the north Arabian sea? What was the purpose of the boarding?

This is a CIA Op plan & simple.
History repeats itself.
Later you'll hear about coups and civil wars around the world.

The cache of weapons included dozens of advanced Russian-made anti-tank guided missiles, thousands of Chinese Type 56 assault rifles, and hundreds of PKM machine guns, sniper rifles and rocket-propelled grenades launchers. Other weapon components included advanced optical sights.

The original source and intended destination of the materiel is currently under investigation.
The materiel is in U.S. custody awaiting final disposition.

That is ALL Chinese made weapons!

Type 56's are definitely Chinese, but I also recognize the 50 cal rifles as something the chicoms make, the svd's are actually Norinco tigers, and the RPG launchers are also Chinese pattern.

The ATGM'S may be LABELED IN RUSSIAN but those are also chicom in origin out of their deniable factories that produce weapons for grey zone operations!

Also, China not Russia just signed a 25 year cooperation deal with iran...

Do not let people tell you that this is anything else but a chicom weapons shipment because it's not.

Note: yes I can provide some further details for people who'd like to know how I'm so sure.

Be would be funny if other countries started smuggling into conservative areas of the U.S massive amounts of weapons and not the kind that can already be bought, but machine guns and worse.

That would drive the Left bat sh!t crazy!

Russia already talked about this, if there ever was a civil war in America Russia would supply guns into Texas through Mexico, The cartel.

Being that it was in International waters, yes they have jurisdiction to board the vessel for routine checks.

Especially if the vessel is suspected of flying another countries flag when registered to a different country.

"With international merchant shipping now playing a central role in joining together nations and continents commercially and politically, the system has become more vulnerable to misuse or attack. As the world marine transportation system has grown in importance, it has become a more attractive vector for militants, terrorists, international criminal organizations, and armed groups. Parasitic groups mask illicit activities throughout the marine cargo chain infrastructure, or exploit the system as part of a strategy of asymmetric warfare against prosperous and democratic states. Regional ethnic and clan-based pirates, extremists, and separatist and freelancing smugglers infect the marine transportation system for political, economic, and military purposes. Leveraging the anonymity afforded by the vast tyranny of time and distance in the oceans, the resulting lawlessness destabilizes nations on every continent. To counter these threats, maritime law enforcement, coast guards, and naval forces conduct constabulary patrols and maritime security operations (MSO). States employ warships and law enforcement vessels, as well as submarines and aircraft, to patrol the ocean commons, particularly throughout the coastal zone. Ideally, threats can be disrupted on the land, before they manifest an immediate danger, or along the seashore interface in port facilities, roadsteads, and inshore waters."

The NRA has no jurisdiction over the operation.

If the cargo had been drugs nobody would bat an eye over it now would they.

I think it's all for show, because the US hates competition.

And it gives them the excuse to say they are doing something vital.

Will other countries start doing pirate activities, to safeguard the high seas?

The whole deck of the ship was covered with them, including some fairly advanced rockets.
