This one is assuming that a new strain comes along that the vaccine does not protect against. So it's just one of many possible outcomes in their model

The angle that only people that really needed the vax got the vax, so the serious cases will be vax failures is an interesting way to cover themselves.

But with >50% of the population getting the vax there, doesn't make much sense.

i would agree but a misspelling in the first sentence makes me question the source.
