It's people trying to call Rogers customer which their network almost services 1/3 of Canada alone and they own Fido and a few other carriers that may use them.

Everything I have business and personal Rogers / Alarm systems are all down. Many debit machines are down too at stores since many use Rogers cell data.

im pretty sure some people would go nuts if service and electricity were cut off for 2 days.
simply not knowing how long it may last and having nothing to do or way to communicate could cause some weird situations.

i guess people who get regular storms might be used to it but most others surely arnt

Fido uses Rogers infrastructure. Rogers is a second rate service. They’d go bankrupt if US competition was allowed in Canada.

This is getting worrying as nightfall approaches.

It should be noted today the Liberal Government of Trudeau released their budget to parliament. As I speak, opposition leaders and reaction ìs currently on the news.

Virtually no mention about the outage. Or any other news.

Interestingly, no talk on Canadian news whatsoever about any other events internationally or COVID related.

I think the situation in Ontario really is a recipe for disaster.

Strictest Stay-at-Home order/COVID Restrictions in North America.
No Data, No news, Snapchat, Reddit for alot Of younger crowd.
No GPS for half the people who use their Phone.
Everything is closed, literally everything.
No young people..lot of middle age people...don't even have cable or traditional landline.

In other words, a communication and entertainment blackout for a decent percent of ON's Population.

No bars, recreation, Netflix or news.

No answer or restoration

Let the riots, shootings, arson and then martial law commence!

I know someone on Rogers and they were still down as of about an hour ago.

I'm on Bell and have had no issues all day.

Very strange. I think ransomware would almost be a best-case scenario.

I believe most would also go nuts so they flee.

Some twenty-five years ago when I lived in an apartment we had a hurricane induced power failure in Virginia that downed power lines and left areas without power for over four weeks.

I chained a small generator to my front steps and ran it to power my fridge and entertainment.

I chained it to the front steps rail to prevent theft.

Though it was not a chain that would prevent theft, it was a chain that would delay the theft of the generator long enough for me to open my front door and empty a weapon into whoever was cutting the chain--they were coming at me with the bolt cutters after all and my life was in danger!!!

The apartments eventually emptied and myself and the black family in the apartment beside mine were the only occupied ones. I write that because skin color does not determine a person's worth or morality.

We ran an extension cord to their apartment too so they had a refrigerator and entertainment too.

We each alternately drove tens of miles for gas every few days so we had a supply to power our homes until the power lines were restored.

That provided me a life-long lesson in how people will work together and survive better than they did with all the other modern luxuries.

We cooked out on our grills for each other and had the best meals and best shared times with other people that month.
