OK I'm elderly so 100 m.p.h. was bloody fast back in the day. The black guy was a military officer so he should have known better, though. They light you up, you pull over immediately unless you hear a message through their bullhorn otherwise.

In a free country the use of drugs should be a personal choice, not that it's one I would make.

DId you know the interstate highway system was designed to drive safely at 120 mph? It was. Thats why all of the cars manufactured between the 50's and mid 70's had a top speed on the speedometer of 120. During the energy crise they mandated a top speed of 85mph on speedometers to slow people down. Corvettes had speedometers with 85mph top speed on the speedometer. My guess is you were conditioned during that period to believe 100 mph is fast.

I drive over 100MPH almost every day. It started as a joke a few years ago to see how many days in a row I could hit over 100. I did it for over 200 days straight but a snowstorm ended my run. I still try every day and normally make it. My record is 177 on a public street (interstate 81 in my Corvette) and 185 on a race track (daytona in a NASCAR stock car)

We have stretches out in west Texas where you dont see a car for hours at a time. I mean you never see a cop and if you did he'd be miles from help and too afraid to pull you over, so people drive whatever speed they feel like. Most settle on about 90 to 100 mph.

Police are still protecting working class professionals and families in their localities.
It appears to be the "politics of policing" being a big problem...or questionable internal affairs.

Then when the cop got out of his car.. they took off... THEN after the cop tried to bump him off the road... the passenger used a rifle to shoot and disable the cop car... then when other cops joined the chase.. shooter shot another cop car that crashed... and somehow shot a couple more cops...

When people remember what the duty is with police, they may stop what they are doing, no innocent people need to die.

What they are not is peace officers, that something else.
What they are not, is being there to guard you or stop the thing from getting worse, that would be a peace officer.

What they are not, is a body guard, that would be exe- policemen hired to protect someone.

What they are, is called on to a job after a crime is reported or already happened or is on going, they are to stop or investigate a crime during and after a crime to get the criminal that did it, so they will not do it again, those who break who land in prisons, because they don't stop breaking laws. The courts are there to see if any mistake has happened, which happens more because of information others have told to the police, not to be helpful, if the people who know the truth give the correct information, crime would go down fast.

If someone is headed down a bad way of life, protecting them from their bad actions is not a good thing for that person, unless you are so poor and haven't eaten if weeks, you don't need to steal, food and you sure don't need to steal others money, they may need it as much as you.

Generally specking he faster the speed limit the few accidents there are, but the more likely they are to be fatal. Germany is an excellent study in the safety of driving fast.

. IMO self defense is a reasonably response, because you are being criminally assaulted in a manner that could reasonable be expected to cause death. Speeding or ignoring police doesnt justify attempted murder.

This idea that police are allowed to ramp up force until compliance is gained is extremely dangerous, and IMO a criminal application of "policy" over law. There is a reason they do it, to create in the citizen the idea that you must either comply or die. Generally speaking the only way deadly force can lawfully be used is if there is a direct threat to yours or someone elses life. It;s hard to justify these police chases, since the police are doing exactly the same thing they claim justifies this high use of dangerous force.

I have no sympathy or empathy for the driver, as his psychosis took over the best of him. He chose poorly from the beginning of the encounter, when evading officers and used a weapon, as a fool does what fools does best.
