And Russia will effectively layer in other less costly missile systems to counter all types of threats. Anti-radiation missiles are useless against the S400 as with the US patriot system. It's difficult to spot since it emits no radiation. Its range is incredible and its advanced radar will decrease the effectiveness of stealth and at shorter ranges will likely render the F35 fully visible. I'm not one of those people who says either side will crush the other. Such is foolish. But the S400 is the best air defense system on Earth. At shorter ranges I do not believe it is much if any better than the pac3 patriot, but it's range vastly outstrips the patriot. |

At a airshow in Germany a old 1960s Russian radar system picked up the f35 , they quickly landed lol Stealth aircraft are equipped with radar reflectors specifically so they can be seen by radar. These reflectors are removed only during combat operations. There are 2 reasons for this. First, it is safer. Secondly, it prevents enemy radar operators from gaining experience against the f35. And to be sure the f35 isn't as stealthy as the b2 or even the f22. At close range many radars would glimpse it and the really good radars will get a good track. But that doesn't mean the stealth is useless. Other planes can be seen from hundreds of miles, not tens of miles. |
