Have you ever woke up and forgot who or what you are?
I once awoke suddenly, sat bolt upright, and
Had no sense of self or memory, had no idea
What I was, what life was or why I existed. It only lasted for about half a minute then I regained memory. This was about 15 yrs ago.
Life is a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves.

Several times. Once when I went through the windshield of a truck and skipped down the asphalt like a Frisbee and once when a Crane tackle was dropped on me while I was bent over rigging . Several other times as well now that I think about it . Sucks don't it .

Re: Have you ever woke up and forgot who or what you are?
I had the same thing happen about 5 years ago. Woke up from a nap and first thing I saw was tree branches with green leaves outside my window. I remember lying there so confused and completely detached from reality. Kept thinking, “what is this? Where and what am I?”. The confusion went away in about a minute for me as well.

Yes when I lost consciousness as a child and almost died, multiple times.

Demons tried to kill me.

Re: Have you ever woke up and forgot who or what you are?
yep. maybe 7-8 years ago i woke up to my sister knocking on the door. i was lost. i cracked my room door looking confused. my sister said "is _____ here." I responded "No He Is Gone." My sister's face changed from concerned to afraid. and then, i snapped out of it.

i asked my sister if the situation really happened because i was thinking it was just a dream. she said "no. it happened. i was scared. are you ok?"

i said i dont know
Hello, fellow humans.

Does waking up and not knowing where you are at count?

Re: Have you ever woke up and forgot who or what you are?
I shook myself out of a daze that was sleep like in nature. I had just drove a honda accord off a low water bridge, failing to negotiate the sharp curve in the road.

So befuddled by confusion I chose to rest a while until the discombobulation lifted. The rush of water flooding the interior of the car convinced me to move immediately without the benefit of a badly needed rest.

I purchased the car for 400 dollars in Seattle and drove it all the way to the Ozarks where like a misfit hillbilly I misused the vehicle and ruined it by way of a car crash.

Happens all the time. I'll be engrossed in something, or sleeping when a noise will get my attention. it takes me several seconds to figure out where I am and orient myself in the house and the world. I think it's getting worse.
I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you.

Maybe your cheap honda had an exhaust leak and it put you to sleep.

If the condition were to severely deteriorate one may find themselves living a life like the guy in the movie memento. Part of the plot of the film was about this man who was unable to have a memory last more than 10 minutes. He relied on Polaroid pictures and tattoos of instructions and steps that he could utilize to add continuity to his day.

Kind of. I've forgotten where I am meaning the decade or timeline I am currently living in.

Yep! 1986 and I still remember it vividly. I was dreaming that I was in a spaceship or station looking out a window at earth. Suddenly a HUGE triangular ship appeared from the backside of the planet. Then, out of the center, smaller ships began streaming out. Someone yelled “Beta fighters!”, our ship/station blew up and I woke up, shocked to be alive but without knowing who, when or where I was for a good 5 minutes or more.

Yea that counts, but that can happen after a night of heavy drinking. We are talking about, waking up in the dark and having no idea what reality is, or what a human body is and having no memory of your life. Luckily I regained my concept of reality and memories.

Creepy.

I haven't experienced this exactly, but I have had a somewhat similar experience in a "false awakening" (that's where you think you wake up and go about your day, only to later realize you're still dreaming).

In that false awakening, I woke up as someone else.

I dressed and went downstairs to the kitchen to have breakfast, saying good morning to my wife and daughters.

Then I awoke for real and realized I'm not that guy, that's not my house, not my wife, and I have three sons and no daughters.

But at the time, I truly believed I was that guy and belonged in that life, just as firmly as I believe I am myself right now.

Makes you wonder what "identity" really is...
