User ID: 64035843 United States 03/19/2021 10:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My wife has an '03 EXT 2wd with 357,000 miles inline6. The engines are tanks. The trans is a typical 4l60E. Great until they get old. And they are a motherfucker to rebuild. The body I'm assuming was made by Isuzu. The vehicle is the biggest piece of american made junk to come out of that era and they are ugly as sin. I would sell it in an instant if I was in the position. Protip: If you turn off the key one day and the rear blower motor will not turn off, you have a bad module. They do not have traditional resistors. And it is way behind the evaporator, meaning you will most likely have to take it completely apart to replace it. The motor has constant power even with the key off. The ground side is PWM controlled by the module. Complete assery. I disconnected the module and bypassed it using a generic PWM speed control module for about 16$. Cut the wires going to the included control knob and mount the knob up front (in mine, where the 4x4 switch usually is). Since the knob only controls the PWM signal you can get away with wiring it remotely with CAT6e as it carries very little current. I tested it, the wires do not get the least bit warm. The remote pot is dual phase so it controls power on-off as well. Wire the hot side to a key-on wire (it also pulls almost no current as it is just a remote) and it will power down with the key. A fair bit of labor but not near as much as pulling the rear AC system completely. To ignore tyranny is to give it medium to thrive! |

Quoting: Plato II OP beware! I have had an 03 TB. You need to check out the frame very well. They're garbage. Also, look at the upper rear trailing arms where they mount to the frame. It's a bad spot for rust. I had cut the trailing arms off which allows for a little twisting out of the rear axle on hard takeoff and stop. Be weary, and don't buy a lemon. Also, if you read the forums about the TB, there are countless reports of the rear trailing arm mounts rushing off of the frame with no good way to repair because the frames are so far gone that there is nothing to weld to. Cheers! I'm in the Midwest, btw. Last Edited by TWash on 03/21/2021 01:51 PM |
