Re: I've been thinking about finding a church.
Get on your knees and say a prayer out loud and ask to find the right church for you and your family.

Be sincere.

Be willing to go where he shows you.

It may be different than you would have planned.

Be happy!

Interesting.

This thread has taken a turn from my original thoughts. I think , because of recent political developments, that we should find a group of local people that we can trust, and be able to count on. I fear that very dark times are coming. Churches and Christians will, no doubt, be the among the first to be persecuted.
It's not like the Marxists haven't done this before.
I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you.

Find a nice christian catholic or episcopalian traditional church.

I liked my episcopalian church in the old days . Pews , stained glass and choirs.

The Episcopalians are heretics and antichrists now with not just women priests but openly homosexual priests...not even in civil unions, just fornicating!

Re: I've been thinking about finding a church.
Good luck with that.
Protestantism is a chaotic mess, every last one of the 30,000+ denominations (including those labeling themselves as non-denom) all think they got their shit together.
But they don’t.
If Protestantism was a lover of Truth, there would not be 30,000+ variations.

Pray and love God, but stay the hell out of the dark hole of Protestantism.

Re: I've been thinking about finding a church.
Simple Points to finding a real church that worships Jesus Christ:

1) They worship on Saturday.
If they think Sunday is the sabbath don't go to it.

2) They don't believe in shopping, watching football, washing your car, going to the movies, etc on the Sabbath

3) They don't fundraise. Every church member is required to tithe (10%) of their income to the church.

4) The Pastor is a Man (and not some Fairy limp wrist )

5) They preach against the LGBTQ activities as required by the law of Moses and accordingly the Epistles of Paul

6) The women do not rule the church. The Male Pastor does

7) They do not Hob Nob with anyone of the Catholic Church or with those that do hob nob with Catholic Priests/Cardinals/Bishops/Popes.

8) They condemn Racism regardless of color. They tell you to avoid those that engage in racism.

9) They do not allow any unrepentant Obama , Biden , Clinton or Trump voter/ supporter to be in the membership of the Church. The pastor drives out people such as this with his preaching.

10) They do not throw out the OT or the Laws of Moses as Jesus Christ never threw out the OT laws

11) They don't believe in a pretribulation rapture

If a church meets these, it might not be a perfect church, but it is not likely to be a synagogue or Temple of Satan.

Good luck. I've been trying to find a church for years. Their tax exempt status makes them having to answer to the government.

Religious gathering will need to go private and away from these big luxurious buildings to be anywhere near pure worship of God. Better to try to find people of like mind as yourself.

Good luck finding a church that doesn't avail itself of the tax code. I've never even heard of one anywhere where I've lived. You might have to find a home church. Seems like the only way that would even work, because if you have a brick-and-mortar church and it doesn't use that tax designation, it's going to have to pay corporate income tax.

I don't think that God needs a tax exemption to make ends meet. Accepting 501 C 3 means they can't preach against sin. It's closed minded to preach against homosexuals and perverts. (edited to add: This is Sarcasm. This what the govt tells you if you preach against homosexuality. It is NOT what I think. I'm typing this real slow so that you can read it and understand)(if you accept the tax cut from 501C3, you are subject to what they tell you to preach)

What Defiles a Man

(Mark 7:14-23)

10And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: 11Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

12Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? 13But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. 14Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

15Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable. 16And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? 17Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? 18But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: 20These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

Why would a Church choose to pay taxes? Non 501c3 Churches are the ones supporting the government because they’re paying taxes on donations. “Render unto Caesar the things of Caesar and render unto God the things of God” is precisely the reason that 501c3 exemptions exist. Don’t give the things of God (donations) to the government through taxes.
