OMG, a pale horse! Beeches, I've been waiting for that all of 2020. I just know I'll wake up one morning to see one galloping down the street after the locusts.

Not a religious person but still. chuckle

Ya know, I'm a little nutrition and natural treatment minded, and this has piqued my curiosity: what would cause a gallstone and infected gallbladder condition in one who is a vegetarian and who doesn't consume butter?

It's my Arsenio "hhhmmmm..." for the day.

I too had my gallbladder removed - it wasn't that bad for me, compared to the others
 Quoting: Tobie

What the hell is a gallbladder anyway?

What does it do and how the heck do you know if you got a bad one and need a replacement?

Asking for a friend.

I betcha she's going to feel a lot better after she's fully recovered from the surgery, what with having a diseased gall bladder out....hf

Happy New Year!....flower
 Quoting: cosmicgypsy

Indeed! She was in 'give me a gun now' pain that dilaudid and morphine were unable to relieve prior to surgery.

Plus they were gang attacking her on Covid testing. I'm surprised she was able to refrain from taking someone out. chuckle I'll let her share that story.

I know she'll appreciate everyone's healing wishes.

Heh, I was in the ER having my 10th bowel obstruction earlier last year, almost dead from the dehydration, because I waited too long to go to the hospital....ya know, COVID and all. I was hoping I could just ride it out, but I started feeling really weird....being on death's doorstep does that.

Anyway, there was a male nurse coming at me with that nasal swab, and I pitched one unholy hell of a scene....harhar, while almost dead. I was screaming and yelling so loud...lol. The ER charge nurse came through the door saying I could have a mouth swab....whew

That male nurse then told me he was glad I didn't have to have it up my nose. He said his nose bled for two days after....and he was trying to do that to me?

Heh, I'll reserve my further comments about him, because....agumball

GLP member "Thinking..." aka Eleventy or 11:11 for those with a little fora tenure...is spending New Year's Eve recovering from emergency gallbladder surgery.

She's doing well; high on good drugs yet still cognizant enough to report being in Covid kool-aid hell at the hospital. Ha!

She won't see this thread tonight but will tomorrow (New Year's Day), and I know healing wishes will make her smile.

She reports the experience was a fitting way to end 2020. chuckle

Happy New Year to all! May 2021 bring much justice(!) and the restoration of our Republic.

As well as much peace, joy and abundance for you and your loved ones!

Wow, what a way to end the year!

Recovering from laparoscopic cholecystectomy is amazingly quick (personal experience).

While the open-you-up type is supposed to be very painful, etc, etc, I'll tell you that my mom had the surgery at 80 and had VERY little trouble.

I also advise her to ask her doc about some stuff called cholestyramine if her bowels prove troublesome in coming days. That stuff can take you pretty much back to normal, but I had to find out about it by research.

BEST healing vibes sent!

I just spoke with her, and she sends a heartfelt thanks to all for the well wishes, and a "hello" to you, CG. She was very touched.

She is in good spirits but still in immense pain and concerned about leaving the hospital because of it...wondering if that level of pain is normal for a laproscopic procedure after the offending organ has been removed.
But, she'll prbly return home this evening.

Anyone who has had the procedure, did you experience significant pain the day after or several days after until healing has a chance to kick in, if you will? Feedback might give her a little comfort. =)

You guys rock! applause2

I had my stomach opened up for them to remove some small intestine to have it tested.

She is going to be in pain for a spell. It does hurt like hell afterwards for about a week, and then it starts to lighten up....my gawd, the poor thing, I remember....grouphug

Please tell me they are sending her home with at least a small script for pain killers. She is going to need them, even if it was all done laparoscopically.

I'm not looking for anyone to become a junkie, but getting cut open and a body part removed is painfully traumatic for the body. When a pain pill is needed for pain - not just a high ride - it is really needed.

I hope she's going to have someone to help her out after she gets home. I lived alone....so yeah, it was hard.

I had something unsightly happen one morning within a week of the surgery, something really bad (I'm not going to go into), a big mess to clean up...it HAD to be cleaned up, and there was only me to clean it up.

I can laugh about it now, and I am, but I was cussing and swearing, in so much pain cleaning that mess up. Lawdy.

I do hope she is going to be well cared for....hf
