Duct was blocked, gallbladder infected and inflammed, peritoneum aggravated. I don't think ultrasound was indicated for her case. Bless her. . "Stop the lockdown. Stop the masks. I had my stomach opened up for them to remove some small intestine to have it tested. Quoting: cosmicgypsy She is going to be in pain for a spell. It does hurt like hell afterwards for about a week, and then it starts to lighten up....my gawd, the poor thing, I remember.... Please tell me they are sending her home with at least a small script for pain killers. She is going to need them, even if it was all done laparoscopically. I'm not looking for anyone to become a junkie, but getting cut open and a body part removed is painfully traumatic for the body. When a pain pill is needed for pain - not just a high ride - it is really needed. I hope she's going to have someone to help her out after she gets home. I lived alone....so yeah, it was hard. I had something unsightly happen one morning within a week of the surgery, something really bad (I'm not going to go into), a big mess to clean up...it HAD to be cleaned up, and there was only me to clean it up. I can laugh about it now, and I am, but I was cussing and swearing, in so much pain cleaning that mess up. Lawdy. I do hope she is going to be well cared for.... Oh, that sounds horribly painful, CG, and I'm so sorry you didn't have someone with you! It makes a good case for retirement communities...all living independently in personal homes but in one community. I wouldn't mind that. Thanks for giving her the "pain for a week" forewarning, which I know will bring a little mental comfort. And, I don't think Eleventy will leave the hospital without a good scrip. She'll planet her ass in her room until someone gives her the goods. Lol. And, thankfully, she won't be alone at home. . Last Edited by TXP on 01/01/2021 04:36 PM . "Stop the lockdown. GLP, pls take a moment to give a fellow member well wishes and a little GLP lurve... Thank you all my GLP homies! Just took an oxycontin (they gave me four) so hoping every hour brings relief. Before I went to the hospital, I'd had about 20 hours of excruciating pain. They told me that sometimes people get immediate relief after surgery but, OF COURSE, no such luck for me. In addition to tapped gas (like baby colic), they pump full of air to add to the post op pressure and while it's getting better, it still hurts. The morphine allowed me to sleep when hospital staff wasn't waking me up every hour and half! I had multiple gallstones with one as a big a ping pong ball. Anyone whose ever had gallbladder attacks will know the misery and while I wasn't thrilled about needing surgery, I'm glad it's gone! Can you imagine living in the old days with shit like this? It must have been hell. So there must have about five or six people who worked me over about the FAKE covid test. I finally relented with the surgeon. Thank God it was negative considering papayas and COKE test positive. Sheer luck. Quoting: Kamchatka, President-elect Recovering from laparoscopic cholecystectomy is amazingly quick (personal experience). While the open-you-up type is supposed to be very painful, etc, etc, I'll tell you that my mom had the surgery at 80 and had VERY little trouble. I also advise her to ask her doc about some stuff called cholestyramine if her bowels prove troublesome in coming days. That stuff can take you pretty much back to normal, but I had to find out about it by research. BEST healing vibes sent! I've never heard of that but will look it up. Thank you. I had the surgery done 20 years ago and they just made a little incision and used a laser and no more gall bladder. It was full of stones. I was in terrible pain before the surgery but had very little pain afterward. Mine wasn't infected, so I don't know what could be causing her pain.
