The guys lawyer messed up his chance for a fair trial. He said in opening statement it was a murder, but Todd didn't do it. It could have been an accident. Testimony indicated she was dizzy. She could have fallen on the rake. Got up. passed out and fallen again. She had surgery a few days before. I live in Iowa and there are some really freaky farm accidents. Either that or someone could have been hiding in the shed. There are lots of sketchy migrant workers in small town Iowa. Look at the Mollie Tibbitts case. The trial was a shitshow. A decent lawyer could have got him off. He may have done it, but I don't think they proved it beyond a reasonable doubt. Hope his appeal for a new trial is granted.

No real proof he did it, nothing. Most unfair trial I have ever seen. I watched the trial on court tv and the man was clearly convicted by the hearsay of town gossips, inept biased law enforcement, crime scene and medical testimony and an ignorant jury. Not to leave out a lacking barely there defense attorney. There was no evidence to prove his guilt. I refuse to even drive thru that backwards state.

Seems a little light on evidence. I want some dna or some other forensics linking a dude to it. I will be the states worst nightmare if they ever put me on jury duty.

I know a case myself a guy fell on a "Cypress knee" while illegally cutting down a cypress tree. Plunged right into his chest along with the 22cal bullets ants in his shirt pocket. They had to cut the Cypress knee off with a chainsaw, after getting him cut loose he walked out to to the truck and went to the hospital. Guy survived it.
