That number is being used as the main statistic to determine the mortality rate and total number of worldwide deaths for this pathogen.
So, if you're a logical, objective thinker your next question should be "how do we definitively know that this number is actually true to begin with?"
The answer is, we don't. Hell, we don't even know if they died of Corona or if they even died at all. We know NOTHING. And most of you are gobbling up China's "intel" and the CDC's statistics like candy. Furthermore, 95% of the cases are anonymous accounts. A male in his 50's. A woman in her 40's. etc etc etc.
We're all being played. Bigly.
Quoting: Clapton's Doctrine South Korea is doing the best job of testing people. John Hopkins map: [ link to gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com (secure)] South Korea has 5,766 cases, and 35 deaths, which is a 0.61% death rate. Using the 0.61% death rate for the United States, there should be 1,800 people infected with the Coronavirus here.. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78458193 dude .. takes over 2 weeks to die from it ... your calculation is wrong Quoting: JADR+ Yes it is wrong, I'm just using it as an example for 11 deaths in the U.S. Some of those deaths are probably cruise ship people. The death rate for cruise ship people is currently 0.85%, which isn't that different from the numbers coming out of South Korea. Only 1.41% of the ship people have recovered (10 out of 706 people), so the death rate could go up for them. . Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78458193 I take that back. I just looked at the John Hopkins map again and there's; "9 deaths, King County, WA US," "1 deaths, Placer County, CA US," and "1 deaths, Snohomish County, WA US," for a total of 11 death unrelated to the cruise ships. There should be at least 1,800 people in the U.S.A. infected with Coronavirus, using the South Korea numbers, and the cruise ship number. .
