Gender imbalance is about birthing. Infant mortality rates depend on the mothers ability to raise her child to adulthood. In many places in the world that isn't possible so women have 8 babies. This created population density and pulls on resources.

Further if there are not enough women, women are being raped and not protected then there becomes an imbalance and sexual frustrations.

If women don't have rights to equal pay, food, health, protection then there is imbalance and... so on...
