I have a question about life insurance letter i received today.

I got a letter from a life insurance company yesterday asking if I was related to this person , it was my father. I called and they asked who I was and some information about my dad. My dad apparently took out a life insurance policy and had his mother and his brother as benefactors. My dad died in 2009, His brother (my uncle) died in 2009 too, grand mother died in 1989 The policy has to be at least 30 years old if my dad listed my grand-mother and a beneficiary. I wonder why it took 10 years for them to finally contact me? It couldn't be that hard to find me, we have the same name but i'm a junior.
