Anonymous Coward User ID: 77635199 United States 06/10/2019 12:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to www.springfieldnewssun.com (secure)] Dr. David Miller, professor of geology at Clark State Community College, says due to the numerous faults, tectonic activity, and rock formation underneath Ohio, its not a matter of “if” Ohio will feel a moderate earthquake, but of “when.” “If you are in your twenties today, you will feel a significant earthquake in your lifetime, if you stick around in the Midwest, due to the New Madrid fault system that runs through Memphis, Tennessee and up to St. Louis,” Miller said. “The second risk will be some of the smaller faults that we have in Ohio.” read whole article |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77717497 United States 06/10/2019 01:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There have been rumors that NASA Glenn Research Center have been doing experiments in those salt mines. Something to do with particle research. Definitely lots of construction and excavation going on for months. Quoting: Sandy Sue 76204605 I know people that work in the salt mines, and I worked at NASA Glenn for 30 years; there is no particle research happening in the mines. NASA Glenn has nothing to do with particle research. There is excavation and construction because.....IT'S A MINE! But enjoy your rumors. When I read about the salt mines it scared me and I don't live there. The video i saw talked about blasting. They closed the place off to the public for a reason which is most likely for safety. Leakage has happened in the past. Mines historically have been highly dangerous places, then factor in the large volume of water that has been occuring with flooding and it heightens the odds for some problems. The eartquake's proxcimity to the mines I haven't researched but quake effects can cover a large area and I doubt we know the effect underground it would have on a cavernous mine under Lake Erie. It most definitely bears watching at least. |

If you dont have one a 12v dc to 110 v ac inverter 3000 watt will run your house ish. $200 ish at harbor freight tools on sale, note modified signwave some electronic wont work or may be damaged. use it for fridge and some lights. your car need's to be running. Average car uses 1 gal per hour when idling or in traffic. use large gage jumper cables # 4 or bigger #2 the smaller the # the larger the wire gage. I have one in my van i use alot on job sites and around the property. Northridge and Sylmar quakes we had no power or water for 2+ weeks. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 61473970 United States 06/10/2019 01:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just got reading up on the extensive salt mine tunnels that run under Cleveland and Lake Erie and how because the lake is at flood stage and water is heavy, theres a legitimate fear of collapse! Theres panic now with the local municiple government over this but being kept quiet. Now an earthquake in the area?! Cleveland, beware! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77717497 Got a link? Bet you know where the best links are now. Salt mines near Cleveland? First I've heard of them, and grew up near there on Lake Erie. Thanks! |
