Thats all. Imagine if the police could arbitrarily decide to keep people locked up until they paid some random $$ to get out, and then a private for-profit company took over management of police. Its a similar situation, where the non-economic collides with the economic. |

Deregulate the healthcare industry so that barriers to entry will lower and more competition will enter the marketplace. Why are there so many choices of types of quality shoes at fair prices? I’m insured and pay $0 for a bottle of 30 pills every month - pharmacy price without insurance: $107 per pill. That’s over a $3k a month. This discussion is about people who aren’t as fortunate as myself. |

Mandate that all pharmaceutical drugs have a maximum 10 year life on their patent before going generic and then purchase a small drug manufacturer and put them as a government utility whose primary job is to study the market and produce generics that are either not being produced or generics that are not being sold for cheep enough by the other manufacturers. Put a 30% profit margin and give the business as much government money as needed to expand their facilities to produce the generics. Within 10 years drug prices will be slashed 80% or more from their crazy rates |

Charging $1,989 for a 30 day supply of Truvada, while it is generically available for EIGHT DOLLARS in countries, like Australia. Truvada is the only FDA approved drug that can prevent the transmission of HIV. Government NIH-funded research on PrEp (Truvada) was built from earlier research work patented by the CDC. The CDC's patents on PrEp are valid and enforceable. We the People, invested 50 million dollars into the government's development of this drug. Now, Gilead stole the drug and is charging almost $2k for a month's supply! Gilead ALSO relied on publicly funded trials to obtain FDA approval. The people paid to develop PreEP. Now, the people cannot obtain PreEP because the patents were privatized, stolen from the people, the HIV epidemic continues to spread... at the cost of the people. The government has denied to file an infringement suit on the patent. Hey dumbass! Its the insurance companies and the pharmacies charging that much for truvada. UHC.is trying to get the customers to pay for it like 1800.00 a pop. If you were smart, most people arent, you'd use a manufacturer coupon to help with the cost. But, be warned, once that money is used up, you'll pay the high copays afterwards. I know bc I work for a specialty mail order company. It's bs. The CEO of our company made 18 million last yr. That's criminal! But, they act like it's so hard to let people have their meds. Now, the pharmaceutical companies and the damn insurance companies are gonna raise the prices of generics 1,000% and split the profits between themselves! If you support this kind of bs greed and corruption, they need to line you up against the wall and fucking shoot you! |

The insurance companies don't charge you for medicine ... they just sometimes require you a copay at the pharmacies. The pharmacies buy the medicines from the drug manufacturers. They profit much less than the drug manufacturers who set the price of the drugs at whatever cost they want, especially if they hold the patent and nobody else can create that drug. |

It costs $75 a year. In the United States, many people with H.I.V. take an almost identical therapy. It costs $39,000 a year. The United States is infamous for its high cost of health care — and H.I.V. medicines are a big part of that. Plenty of drugs carry outrageous prices: EpiPens, insulin, cancer treatments, even some antibiotics. But no class of medicines is more scandalously expensive than for H.I.V. These medicines are by far the largest item in Medicaid’s drug budget, the third largest for the insurance exchanges and the fifth largest for commercial insurers. What do we get from spending so much? Not enough. H.I.V. therapy aims to suppress the virus to the point where it is undetectable in a patient’s blood. Patients with suppressed H.I.V. are healthy and noncontagious. Just under half of all people living with H.I.V. in the United States have achieved that. That’s not only way below countries like Britain and France; it’s worse than Zimbabwe, Kenya and Malawi." Last Edited by lawless777 on 05/27/2019 12:50 AM ORDO AB CHAO |
