I made a change at CERN and NOW I created a Mandela Effect

I made a change at CERN and now the Gettysburg Address has been changed!!!

I did this three weeks ago while I was at CERN.

When I arrived at the facility to repair a cooling coil in the condensing flow chamber, I was told I would be escorted to the shop to get the tools I needed since I had to fly in from Ohio and there was no need to bring my own tools on the plane since they had everything they needed.

So, I get in the golf cart with, a guy I will call Steve in this story, to go to the shop to get the tools. ON the way, he was showing me things and explaining how things work and somehow I mentioned messing with different realities. He chuckled and said after my work was done, I should come by the engineering office to have some special “fun”. He said fun and made quotes in the air.

I thought all that was kind of weird. Well, I spent six hours working on the problem and finally made it to the engineering office to let them know I was finished. I was asked if I was hungry and I was and so they offered to take me down to the cafeteria.

While we were eating lunch (I was eating, the other six people drank coffee), a discussion came up about having some “fun” after my lunch.

I again saw them using “fun” quotes in midair. I asked what “fun” could we have with the CERN device?

Well, they said, I could pick something unimportant to change in history and they could input the change into the CERN collision scheduled for later in the week. Ok, so I was confused. I asked what they meant.

They said that each time they do a collision, they can change small things that will wave through time as each collision actually causes everyone on earth to move to a parallel timeline. I laughed and then noticed that no one else was laughing. I asked if they were serious?!?!

They said yes. They said Charlie (not his real name) had visited from my office and he was the guy who changed the logo for FORD. I asked if they were pulling my leg.

They said finish eating and they would take me back to the lab and allow me to see how they do it. There were precise rules and only changes of minor importance could happen. They said they had done this hundreds of times and as long as they are careful, nothing bad has happened. The major catch is…once the change has been made, then nothing could be changed back. They said they had tried and it did not work.

They said that all of them seemed to remember the earlier changes but as time went on, some people who even had the original change idea would forget that they changed the item and did not know they caused it. They said it was like 50-50. I may or may not recall the change. I asked what the parameters were and they said that it had to be something historical so that it could be seen since if you just changed the middle name of your neighbor, then it would be impossible to find people to validate whether the change happened or not. So, they said they stuck to books, music, historical figures, spellings of words and things that changed would not really impact the world.

I made my choice since I had been watching a Lincoln documentary on the flight over on my ipad. I changed the speech from forefathers to fathers.

Hard to believe that this change actually happened. Now even the old 1863 newspapers have the fathers word and not what Lincoln had actually said.

Some other examples of jokes was, changing eyes on humans, changing eye color of famous people, and the list keeps growing.

So. This one was my fault. It is one of the better ones. It was a week later when I was at home and realized the collision had happened the day before and I recalled what I did and checked the internet for the speech. Blows my mind that it worked. I met Sally Fields brother and he works there and is in the group of 6. He said that he changed his last name to Field from Fields. And he did it to Christopher Reeves too. He laughed and said that even his own sister does not even remember her last name spelling has changed. Crazy stuff.
