I was very young when we moved from Oh down here from Vandailia Oh in 1979. I remembered the yr before was very cold and lots of snow. Our winters down here were a bit cold during that time. It even snowed in St Pete 1983 but they've erased the event from history. Quoting: Master Seaman This one however was pretty brutal along the shores of Lake Erie. 40+ mph sustained winds off the lake with 5 foot high drifts. As a side gig I plow snow and have a pretty substantial truck with blizzard rated tires. Half way through my route I called it quits. State, city, and county plows couldn’t keep up. I had to stop on main roads and study the drifts to see if I could make it through them. They were as high as the hood of my truck. This means that no matter how high I raise the plow I’m going to get a breaking wave of snow over my cab and windshield. A 20 minute drive took me 4 hours. Not a soul on the roads. Except me. Driving through these drifts was like mud bogging. I had to stand on the gas. My truck was floating on snow in zero visibility. Had no idea where the road was. I could see the tops of mailboxes through the hurricane-like winds. When I was a kid we got hit so hard my old man had to roll out of the kitchen window and tunnel his way to the door so we could open it. This storm wasn’t that bad but it definitely kicked ass. Oh big deal you got some fucking snow, ME TOO just shoveled the fucking jesus out of it, you don't hear me making threads about it suck it up And what happened to Global Warming? The gifts of the Holy Spirit, you do not receive in a school of charlatans Beware of misinformation agents, they are infiltrating everywhere Most of the things that have taught you about the story, is a farce The truth is still out there *It's easy to tame sheep... |

But I’ve never seen anything like the blizzard of 77 that happened in Buffalo or the freak October storm 11 ish years ago Snow 10-15 feet high.. higher in places... . you can touch the top of 15 foot light poles with your hands to warm them... I could Crawl out of my 3 story window into snow drifts. We routinely every year get 5-10 foot drifts and schools around here don’t even close |

The OP is experienced and more importantly, prepared for the snow and called it quits out of self preservation most likely. Consider this OP to be a huge minority when it comes to Winter as well. winter is a joke, you guys down there freak out over a lil ice haha so true! I've got a buddy in Texas and she straight up just says that Americans don't get enough bad winter weather to actually get used to it or learn how to properly drive in it, which makes sense. For us Canadians the weather is either shitty and full of snow, or it's the summer for all of 12 hours. Personally? I can't get used to warm weather and it feels like I've spend most of my life in a winter climate dressed up like a fucking eskimo. Explains A LOT. Come south for some Carib island fun.
