Anonymous Coward User ID: 50663088 Poland 04/04/2018 05:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | go to Paris, take the euro star for a day trip. You need only visit 1 pub and have a pint to get the full UK experiance. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 50663088 from paris take the night jet train or was it called something else and go to Venice for one day. Then Rome by train and done... if you want you can head back to germany to hamburg. or trie and do it in october so you can do the beer fest too. NOW THATS HOW YOU DO IT! The EU thing. You have me thinking! The logistics, though. My wife grew up in Germany, Oberach Steinack, or something like that. (I know I butchered the spelling). I like this idea! staying more than 3days in one place can get very boring in europe, unless you at the pool all day drinking and having fun. see the links i sent but for us here, I follow the flights and hotels websites. Those night trains go from germany to italy and visa versa. called the nightjet |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76018078 United States 04/04/2018 05:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm thinking of a quick trip later this month to see the UK. Thinking of Ireland and the coast, but not opposed to other points of interest. Not interested in touristy destinations, more outdoors, breweries and distilleries. Quoting: Maguyver What are some must-see's across the pond? I do a long distance walk in Europe every year. Went to Two Moors Way in southern England in the fall and Dingle Way in southern Ireland in the spring and the West Highland Way in Scotland the year before that. Loved all of them. We walked 16 miles or so each day for 6 days and the tour company moves your bags from B&B to B&B. You can do shorter stays, of course, or just do the trip on your own and get a room at the pub in the evenings. Worth checking out Contours dot com or just google walking holidays England so you can see the routes. You meet others on the trail or you can do it on your own. You meet the locals, and the trails take you past some great castles/stone circles/burial mounds etc. You can pick up guides/maps for the walks at Information Centers in the local towns where they start. We've stumbled onto fantastic pubs and great sites that we would never have seen otherwise. You get your day in the city when you arrive, but then you're out in the country and it's divine. |

UK is ok they dont have this tourist tax. but public transort there is hunting ground for non payers. so always have the right ticket. plan your trip. historic places and eats at special places like a resturant with blind waiter!!!! or Vertigo in London extra extra. some places will need to be booked. also scan for deals online on tickets on london eye extra. |

Bamburgh castle is a glorious place, also Lindesfarne (holy island) is beautiful (and is cut off from the mainland twice a day.) Visit the Lake District, Keswick, Windermere, and the like for stunning scenery. Last Edited by Shamanik on 04/04/2018 06:02 PM Namaste Motherfucker. |

What are a few good places to visit there? Staying away from the big cities, and feel like going more rural. 3-5 days then jump over to Paris and Germany for a few more days, maybe Venice, still planning the end of this month. Beware of the West of Scotland due to the biting flies called midges. It can be quite cool and wet due to the April showers. Highest forecast temp today is 50F. Some suggestions: Warwick castle - [link to www.warwick-castle.com (secure)] a few miles up the road Kenilworth castle - [link to www.english-heritage.org.uk] Both are near Stratford upon Avon, with all the Shakespeare stuff - [link to www.visitstratforduponavon.co.uk] On the edge of the Cotswolds - [link to www.cotswolds.com (secure)] Also quite near to Oxford - [link to www.telegraph.co.uk (secure)] |

Quoting: Maguyver There've been a few mentions of Scotland....I hear the west coast is beautiful. What are a few good places to visit there? Staying away from the big cities, and feel like going more rural. 3-5 days then jump over to Paris and Germany for a few more days, maybe Venice, still planning the end of this month. For scenery you will like Scotland, most of our towns and villages outside of Glasgow, Edinburgh etc are pretty much rural. Some are more dense than others, but it's not difficult to get away from people here. As for recommendations I suggest just winging it unless you're looking for something specific. Engineering? Go see the Falkirk Wheel. Castles? Drive in any direction for 10mins, you'll find one. Scenery? Get out of the cities/towns and you'll find what you seek. |
