Expect a dark CN tower this evening in observance of the annual energy conservation movement.

Toronto will be plunged into darkness tonight in observance of Earth Hour.
The event began in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, and is set to run from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. local time worldwide. More than 180 countries take part in the lights-out movement each year. The World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) reported more than 3.5 billion impressions were recorded on the #EarthHour social media hashtag, and trended in more than 30 countries in 2017.
Research from the WWF says that the planet is currently on track to lose 67 per cent of wildlife populations by 2020. The decline is due to habitat losses and pollution, as well as climate change, which puts one in six species at risk for extinction, the conservation group said.
