User ID: 76166260 United States 02/07/2018 02:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was looking at this when I got up this morning. I thought it was a pretty interesting choice myself. Very timely. Great thread! Quoting: ThreeLittleLambs Thank you. Hubby may become a GLPer by default after all! My S.O. is very sharp, and I WISH he had the want to internet and get perspectives from alternative sources. Alas, he's a 67 year old hippie, and could care less about computers. Only time he cares is when he wants me to look up something he's read about, and that's usually local or music related (and when I'm right embroiled in the Q thread - lol). *sigh* I just googled the lyrics to Life On Mars. The part that intriues me (though yours is a great example) is the one that begins "It's on America's tortured brow..." I hesitate to post the entire bit (been dinged for copyright of lyrics in the past). But that's the one that makes me think... What do you think the line "'Cause Lennon's on sale again" means? Just in general. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 73996255 United States 02/07/2018 02:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As I watched the launch yesterday, I was dimly aware of the song they kept playing over and over. Hubby, who is a huge Bowie fan, knew it at once. Quoting: Doomamatrix And at once began to wonder at the choice of the song. "Life on Mars', no brainer", I replied. "No," he insisted, "Look at the lyrics." Well I did. And here are the ones that popped out at me. Sailors fighting in the dance hall Oh man, look at those cavemen go It's the freakiest show Take a look at the lawman Beating up the wrong guy Oh man, wonder if he'll ever know He's in the best selling show Is there life on Mars? The FBI are the biggest "lawman" there can be. Who are they beating up on? President Trump. And others. Who knows? They may have been the ones that killed Seth Rich, not hillary. Anyway, I am wondering if this choice of song, while seemingly natural enough, is Musk's editorial comment on the whole affair. Car's license plate says "Don't panic". |
