Sure they can't get rid of Bitcoin, but what good would it be if people can't spend it anywhere or cash it out. What if it could only travel from private wallet to private wallet? What if exchanges were barred from listing it? Who would want it? Governments are very capable of obliterating Bitcoin's usage, at the very least, severely disincentivizing it.
