If they go by the comic he won't die. He becomes weird friends of Rick. One of ricks most confident ones. Their relationship is weird it's like they both change each other closer to their counterparts. Negan ends up with a great deal of respect for Carl too, although Carl hates him. Negan respects that defiance.

Not sure how the TV show will do it but I am assuming we will have an entire season until we finally find out.

Rick's group helps bring down Negan's group, but Negan is just put in a jail cell where Rick goes every now and then to talk to him. An idiot eventually breaks Negan out and Negan goes to the whisperers (people who wear walker skin suits and follow the herds for protection).

Negan kills their leader, 'Alpha', and starts a war with the whisperers, where he goes back to Rick's group and offers his 'help' to defeat them.

Rick is working with him, but doesn't trust him in the least.

And last issue, Negan was devastated because while fighting Alpha's #2..a hulking figure named 'Beta'..he broke Lucille.

They should let Maggie have him.

Glen got the bat in issue #100....for the show, that's first episode of season 7.

Comics are currently on issue #159 and Negan's still there and as popular as ever.

Since the show has some major lead actors who have been on long-term and probably want to cash in on the show's success before it fizzles out, I'd say it depends. They are going to establish some new characters this season.

They are probably going to deviate from the books depending on who wants to leave the show. I'm guessing Rick and Daryl are considering their future options. I'm guessing some others will start to step up, new arrivals will move up and they will then base some things on contracts.

I'd expect Negan around for quite some time.

He should have died right then and there as no one should let a bully do that, and even if all of them died they should have rushed him and killed him before he got to swing at anyone.

by the way the shows handlers were talkin...negan might be around long enough to have an adult carl OR glenn's teenage son. the evil negan is a great draw. although...he's pretty sure of himself and thinks that the rest of his army will continue in his footsteps when he goes down. it would seem they'd like to get out from under his iron fist and most of them were forced into his army anyway. oh well...i'm a sucker for the show and will hang on for a while to see.

Good. Despite Rick's group setbacks at different times throughout the seasons...they've always comeback and "won". A BIG but is that this time it's dealing with the Saviors that seem to have more n more tentacles across the area. Like the group Jesus was/is in some may be sick of Negan takin their shit...but are powerless to do much about it. They took a chance with Rick's group and when Negan found out he killed most of them. That's a pretty good AND brutal way to get the message out that the Saviors are not to be messed with. Together...their numbers are pretty formidable. It seems thought hat the "chink" in their armor is that when in smaller groups...the leaders just aren't that bright. I know it would've made everything different...but I was sure wishing that Rick had a few more of those RPGeez that Daryl fixed one small group of Saviors with. Anyway...I'm a sucker for the show and will be there when it ends be it next year OR (hopefully for me) next decade sometime.

The dilemma is that your actions would cause the death of another..possibly your son in front of you while you had to sit and watch.....I'd want to do exactly what you said but that alone would probably make me hesitate or think twice.

There's always a chance to fuck them up royally later if you get out alive....

Negan is still going strong in the comics..(last episode of the show was comic #100....comics are up to #159 now).

But when it comes, Negan deserves the most epic death yet...something completely fucking medieval.

That's just it. You won't be killed outright for your bravado AND you'll be forced to watch as many others you love die gruesomely painful (if they're lucky) deaths. It's a no brainer what they may do to the women...but in this world they'll even treat your male loved ones like their bitches too. Remember the episode with the "claim it" group and what the one guy was gonna do to Carl? The numbers were a little bit different and Rick made the decision to bite the bad guy's jugular. The situation with Negan...NOT EVEN the same and any fight back decision would be meant with the death of another. Daryl decided to be a tuff guy AND as Daryl's punishment...Glen meant vampire bat Lucille up close and personal. For mostly just taking the beating and deaths now...the group has kept itself in a position to get healthy and retaliate later on. It may take awhile...but Negan and many of the other Saviors will pay a price. For Negan...not so swift. For others...a snap of the finger and they're gone.
