African Greys do more than just "parrot" what they hear. They are capable of communicating verbally like a small child. A parrot expert might be able to question this parrot to determine if the parrot is referring to the murder or something else.

Doubt it, I've got two african greys and they do not pick up words the first time they hear them. You need to condition them multiple times, sometimes for days, weeks or months before they will ever repeat anything. These losers have been saying those words to that bird over and over and now call the news and the media falls for it lol

Non-admissible in court.

Then the dog sniff-test shouldn't be, either.

The dog is with law enforcement personnel. For all we know the parents of the deceased trained the bird to say that after the fact.

Well, good theory but if he says "don't shoot" in the dead mans voice, it is a dead ringer, and SOLID EVIDENCE.
I have two african greys and they sound just exactly like the person they mimic....no way if that is the dead mans voice that this should not convict her!!!

The guy's LAST WORDS begging not to be shot are now imprinted on a bird who witnessed the murder and now repeats them over and over? Definitely creepy but in a very sad way.

Respect to the bird! African Grey Parrots are highly intelligent animals. If the owner was kind to the bird, then this is the greatest tribute possible. Also, the bird may be traumatized by this event and the arguments leading up to it. I've heard these birds can pretty much literally die of loneliness, so I hope the people who inherited it will give it lots of loving attention and kindness.

Maybe the wife was waving a gun around frequently and threatening the husband frequently. As such, the husband may have said, "Don't f-ing shoot!" more than once.

B.S. Birds don't learn words instantly. It will take a while and you have to repeate it to them constantly before they learn them.
