VIDEO - Family says African Grey parrot who witnessed the murder mimics argument and last words of victim SAND LAKE, Mich. - A murder case in Michigan has taken a bizarre and disturbing twist. The victim’s parrot was recorded repeating words that the victim’s family believes it heard just moments before he was shot death. Martin Duram, 45, was shot and killed in his Ensley Township home in May 2015. His wife, Glenna, was also shot, but is now a suspect in what police are calling an attempted murder-suicide, according to Michigan State Police reports obtained by WOOD-TV. Duram’s family, who is now caring for the bird, whose name is Bud, has video of him repeating what sounds like an argument, complete with changing voices. Then, the bird is heard saying: “Don’t f***ing shoot.” “I personally think we was there and he remembers it, and he was saying it,” Charles Duram said. More at [link to www.clickondetroit.com] |

VIDEO - Family says African Grey parrot who witnessed the murder mimics argument and last words of victim The guy's LAST WORDS begging not to be shot are now imprinted on a bird who witnessed the murder and now repeats them over and over? Definitely creepy but in a very sad way. Yes it is sad. They have a memory, and while we may not know exactly how their brain works, he only heard this fight once, and can't stop repeating it, clearly it made an impact on him. |

VIDEO - Family says African Grey parrot who witnessed the murder mimics argument and last words of victim African Grey parrots are as smart as chimps, but they can talk too, not just "parrot" words. In fact, they are as smart as human toddlers. The parrot is almost certainly reciting the murder of its owner, just as a child might do if his parent was killed in front of him. |

Just think... part of planning the perfect crime would be to teach your parrot to say just what you want it to. Parrots repeat words. They don't know if they are lying. |

For all we know the parents of the deceased trained the bird to say that after the fact. Still, we're talking about a human interpretation of animal signals on which to cause government to move. The officer could have taught the dog to give the signal when the officer indicates. |

A parrot can't record actual events A parrot can record actual events. You just can't determine their authenticity. And you can't determine the authenticity of the dog's nose, either. The dog knows what his nose knows, but you just know the dog's nosing something. The difference is you think police are doing a civil service by violating the civil rights of a drug user. |

VIDEO - Family says African Grey parrot who witnessed the murder mimics argument and last words of victim There is strong scientific evidence that the brain of all living creatures will hardware memory due to induced trauma. The loud gun shots would be the "trauma enabler" that hardwired the events from dynamic short term memory of the parrot. That in effect turns the parrots brain into a true recorder of the incident. |

VIDEO - Family says African Grey parrot who witnessed the murder mimics argument and last words of victim I had a small green parrot that was so smart it was spooky, even when he was very young. He used words in context sometimes, held grudges, whispered funny comments in my ear... Those birds are waay smarter than people give them credit for. |
